"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."

"And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is bora this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

This time of year, most people are friendlier to each other. That's what I like about Christmas. I know that Christ was not born on December 25, and that scripture does not set aside or designate a specific day as being holier than another, and we are not required to celebrate Christmas as the birth of Christ. But this time of year, more people take on a Christ-like attitude and show love, one to another. Two warring countries will actually call a cease fire for this one particular day. That's what's great about Christmas. That's the power of Christ. Even though it's only for a day, it shows how powerful Christ is.

But the world's changing. I see the day coming when the world will take Christ out of Christmas and it will be just X-mas. Two warring countries will not have a cease fire for X-mas. No nativity scenes dotting the landscape. No Charlie brown Christmas special on tv because it quotes passages from the bible. Instead of the tolling of church bells just the ringing of cash registers. Many of you are thinking right now, "so what, Christmas isn't a special day to be observed anyway. I remember Christ every day of the year, not just one day."

It would be a better world if every body thought as we did but they don't. Many people only think of Christ this one particular day of the year. Instead of resenting them for this we should take this opportunity to show them the truth, for they are more receptive at this time of year. Many of us, take on an un-christ-like attitude this time of year without realizing it. A kind of unconscious protest of the rest of the world. If Jesus Christ, would happen to come back, on December 25th, would he find you this day and be able to say to you; "Today I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me."

Your light might shine brighter than the rest of the world's every day of the year, but don't let it go out on the day when theirs is at it's brightest.
